Our next Arangetram is currently in preparation, marking another milestone in this continuing journey of artistry and mentorship!
The Abhinay School of Dance, founded by Lakshmi Iyer in 2006, has guided numerous students to their Arangetram milestones under the joint artistic direction of Lakshmi Iyer and Preetha Anand, who joined as co-Guru in 2010. Together, they built a strong pedagogical foundation centered on discipline, artistry, and mentorship.
Following Lakshmi’s move to St. Louis, the two Gurus now lead their own schools—Margam Dance Company in St. Louis and KalaAlaya School of Dance in Seattle—while continuing to share philosophy, curriculum, and guidance. The two institutions function as sister schools, sustaining a shared legacy of training, collaboration, and performance.
(And fittingly, Preetha also happens to be our artistic director Megha’s aunt—making this bond both artistic and familial.)
