Margam's productions are concept-driven works built around months of research, choreography, and design. Each piece explores a theme — spiritual, cultural, or human — through the vocabulary of Indian classical dance, often in collaboration with artists across traditions and geographies.
Kshetram
A first-of-its-kind thematic production that brought together five senior artists across Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and Kuchipudi — each interpreting the spirit of five sacred kshetrams through their own tradition.
The production celebrated diversity within classical form, collaboration among teachers, and the unity of spiritual expression through dance.
Audiences and peers alike praised Kshetram for its originality, artistic integrity, and the rare dialogue it created between styles.

Krishna Janmashtami
Commissioned to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna, this trio production brought the stories of his childhood to life through expressive choreography and narrative. Performed by Lakshmi Iyer, Preetha Anand, and accompanying artists.
Ramayanam
A full-length retelling of the Ramayana condensed into a focused one-hour production. Performed by Lakshmi Iyer and Preetha Anand, the work traced the epic's essential arc — exile, devotion, and return — with clarity and emotional depth.
Muruga
A full Bharatanatyam margam tracing the life and legends of Lord Muruga — from divine birth through his marriages — culminating in a vibrant folk Kavadi sequence. The production wove classical and regional traditions into a single cohesive arc.

Commissioned for Ganesh Chaturthi, this 45-minute thematic margam offered a portrait of Lord Ganesha in the context of his divine family — exploring Ganesha, Parvati, Shiva, and Kartikeya through interconnected choreography and music.

It's Private
Co-created by Megha Sanjay and Kiran James under their respective companies, Janya and Kiran James Productions, this work addresses intimate partner violence through dance. Though an independent production, we're proud to feature work created by Margam dancers pursuing their own artistic voices.
