Classes

We offer classes ranging from beginner to senior/ dance company. Our emphasis is on strong foundations and honing each student's artistic mindset while allowing for individual expression.

Categories

Beginner

Beginner classes are designed for individuals with no prior experience with Bharatanatyam or any Indian classical dance form.

We begin with the very basics to create a strong foundation -- and introduce elements of storytelling and culture to help students grow and connect with the art form.

Intermediate

Students should be comfortable with the basics (Adavus) and simple pieces (such as Alarippu and short Jathis or other beginner items).

We focus on learning structured choreography and items, and introduce abhinaya (emotions) and performance skills.

Advanced

Advanced learners will work on complex choreography and hone the nuances of Bharatanatyam.

Students work towards familiarity with a full-length performance (Margam) and often conduct an Arangetram at this stage to signify their emergence into the dance world as performers.

Senior

Students learn complex choreography, enhancing their Bharatanatyam skills. We encourage self-expression, teach advanced abhinaya, and involve them more actively in choreography and thematic productions.

Members of our production team need not be trained in the same Bani.
