Training
Margam trains dancers from their very first steps through advanced repertory and company work. We emphasize strong technique, artistic clarity, and genuine engagement with the form — not just steps, but understanding.
In-person in St. Louis, with limited online spots available for intermediate to senior students.
Levels
Beginner
No prior experience needed.
We start from the ground up — building technique, musicality, and a relationship with the art form.
Open to all ages.
Intermediate
For students comfortable with foundational adavus and basic repertory. Work at this level focuses on structured choreography, expressive performance, and understanding artistic voice.
Advanced
Advanced students work toward mastery of the full Bharatanatyam margam — the traditional performance sequence — and may pursue an Arangetram, the classical debut recital that marks a dancer's emergence as a performer.
Senior
Our most experienced dancers engage in original choreography, thematic productions, and collaborative work.
Company members need not share the same training lineage.
